Who this policy covers

This policy explains how The Harvest of Compassion Foundation handles personal information on harvestofcompassion.org. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit registered in Pennsylvania, doing business as Harvest of Compassion. It applies to visitors of this website and to anyone who gives a gift, sends a funding request, contacts us, or signs up for email updates.

Information we collect

We only ask for what a specific task needs.

• Email updates. Your email address, and the page you signed up from.
• Contact form. Your name, email address, the topic you chose, and your message.
• Funding requests. Organization name, contact name and role, email, phone, program name, program description, amount requested, what the amount covers, and any PDF you upload with supporting detail.
• Gifts. The name, email address, and billing address you enter at checkout, plus the gift amount and whether it is one time or monthly.

Card and bank account details are entered on Stripe's payment pages and are handled by Stripe under its own privacy policy. We do not see or store full card numbers.

This site does not use advertising cookies or analytics trackers. Your browser stores one small setting that records your cookie choice, described in our cookie policy. Our hosting provider may keep standard technical server logs, such as an IP address and browser type, for security and abuse prevention.

How information is used

We use the information we collect to:

• Process a gift, record it, and issue a receipt for your tax records.
• Manage a monthly gift, including any change or cancellation you ask for.
• Reply to messages and answer questions.
• Review a funding request and stay in touch with the organization that submitted it.
• Send email updates to people who asked for them.
• Keep the records we need for accounting, tax filings, and audit of grant funds.

Sharing of information

We do not sell or share personal information for advertising. We share information only when it is needed to run the work:

• Stripe processes card and bank payments and issues the payment records we rely on.
• Our hosting and database provider, based in the United States, stores the site and the records described above.
• Our accountant and attorney, when they need records to advise the Foundation.
• Anyone else, only when the law requires it, such as a valid court order.

Funding requests and gift records are not published on this website and are not shared with the public.

Data retention

Gift records are kept for as long as tax and nonprofit record keeping rules require. Funding requests are kept while the file is relevant to the board's work and for a reasonable period afterward. An email address stays on the updates list until you ask us to remove it. Technical server logs are kept only briefly.

Your choices and rights

Where the law gives them to you, you can ask to access the personal information we hold about you, have it corrected, have it deleted, or object to how it is used. You can also stop email updates at any time by replying to an update or writing to us.

Send your request to info@harvestofcompassion.org. We may ask for enough information to confirm your identity before we act, and we will tell you if a legal duty requires us to keep a record.

If you give by bank account (ACH), you can also reverse an unauthorized debit through your bank within the time limits your bank sets.

Children's privacy

This website is written for adults giving to or working with the Foundation. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the work changes. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last revised. If a change materially affects how we handle information, we will say so here before it takes effect.
